Reflections from the UK VA Conference 2025: Connection, Creativity, Community (and an award!)
What an incredible day at the UK VA Conference!
Award aside (though I’m still pinching myself about that ), I genuinely had the best time.
It was such a joy to reconnect (in person!) with so many amazing people in the VA community and to dedicate some much-needed time to professional development. From inspiring talks about growing and marketing our businesses, to connecting with brilliant, like-minded VAs, the whole experience was a huge reminder of why I love being part of this industry.
My biggest takeaways?
(Aside from a very lovely Best Newcomer 2025 trophy, a bag full of swag, and some beautiful Avorium stationery in the raffle.)
The importance and power of true connection
Nothing beats genuine conversation and collaboration with others who just get it. Whether we’re swapping tips, sharing stories, or simply cheering each other on, connection really is at the heart of what we do.
The value of a strong brand identity
In an increasingly digital world, how we present and communicate our businesses matters more than ever. Investing time in clarifying and strengthening your brand, visually and verbally, is absolutely worth it.
A few standout moments
Getting creative with brand messaging and direction in an inspiring session with Jodie Newman from The Business Allotment.
Learning about the power of reels and video from the ever-energetic Katie Noakes - her enthusiasm is infectious!
Taking in Katie from Little Green Duck’s witty, wise words on authentic, memorable marketing and how to make your writing truly stand out.
And then… awards night
Wow. What an evening! I felt incredibly proud to stand alongside so many inspiring VAs, industry leaders, and fellow award winners. The sense of support and celebration in the room was truly special.
Now it’s back to school bags and rainy nursery drop-offs.
I’m still buzzing though.
A huge thank you to Amanda Johnson and The VA Training Academy for organising such an incredible event.
Here’s to growth, community, and the next chapter!
